Online Counselling
Online counselling allows you to work from an environment where you are comfortable, feel safe and is a way of accessing counselling that may not otherwise be available. It means you don't have to travel and can be helpful if you live somewhere more remote or where local transport is not available often. As a counsellor, it means I can work with people from anywhere in the country.
As with meeting face-to-face, privacy and confidentiality is important. I work in a safe and confidential space with no interruptions. It will be necessary for you to also find a quiet and private space, where you won’t be disturbed.
I offer online counselling via Zoom which offers end-to-end encrypted security. Before our initial counselling session, I will send you a secure Zoom meeting link to access our session at the agreed time and admit you to the session at the agreed time.
Please turn off emails, apps and notifications on your devices, so you will not be disturbed during the session.
Please bring what you need, maybe some water, tissues, writing materials and something comfortable to sit on.
Please do not drink alcohol or partake in any drug taking before a session, except for medicines prescribed by a GP or homeopath. Both client and therapist need to be sober for counselling sessions.
Who is online counselling not suitable for?
If you are experiencing extreme suicidal ideation or thoughts, suffering from a psychiatric disorder, or experiencing severe psychotic episodes, substance misuse and/or alcohol addiction, please contact an appropriate local service, mental health team or your GP to help you.
